Movie Icon Sidney Poitier passes away at 94

Sidney Poitier, a legendary actor & film director Born February 27,1927 has passed away January 6th of 2022. Poitier is the first Black Academy Award winner, 2 Golden Globe awards and an a Grammy for best spoken word album. Sidney Poitier’s amazing track record of producing and directing movies speak for itself. Especially when you speak of classics like “A Raisin in The Sun“, “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner” and “Stir Crazy” that featured the legendary Gene Wilder and Richard Prior and that’s just to name a few. All of his works he’s either been nominated or received prestigious awards for.

HIs stance on political and racial views came through amazing flicks like “To Sir,With Love“, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” and “In The Heat of The Night” in 1967 when Racism was at an all time high. Poitier has also been granted a Knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 1974 among a slew of other accolades for his entire career. This write-up does no justice for the impact that Sidney Poitier has had on the movie, acting, producing scene since 1946-2009. He has been an all around influence in film and in culture period!
