BIG L BIOPIC

Golden Gates Films LLC, Michael Austin and Jessie “DAZE” Swindell presents “Put It On”  a film about the late great Lamont “BIG L” Coleman. For those who don’t know who he is, he was one of the best to ever touch the mic when it comes to HIP-HOP/RAP. His emergence was in the early 90’s during the “crack epidemic”. When drug violence was at an all time high, hip hop was going through it’s own transitions when it came to it’s flows, beats and fashion trends.

The Legendary DJ K SLAY opts in on the PUT IT ON film

Lamont “Big L” Coleman story began in Harlem N.Y. as young energetic rapper that took no shorts coming up as a youth. Growing up in the heart of Harlem during the 90’s had him tied into the wrong people, places and things. However, at some point Big L tapped into his rapping talent and it propelled him to be in the company with some of the great artist we have today. His style was described as being raw and uncut. His flow and delivery was new and refreshing to listeners and which allowed his name to be used in the same sentence with names like NAS, JAY-Z & BIG PUN… Yeah ..He was that good..

Actor / Rapper to portray Big L

Unfortunately, similar to a lot of other stories that we’ve heard about in the past when it comes to tragic deaths in the hip hop community, Big L’s life was cut short after being gunned down and shortly after, his older brother was also gunned down. What did he/they do that bad to put his mom and family through that pain?! Could it have been prevented?!

Unfortunately, these things happen all to often in the HIP HOP cultureThe thing is, there is so much more to the BIG L story than we actually know. This where Michael Austin (Director) and Jessie “DAZE” Swindell (co-director/producer) have developed “PUT IT ON” the story of Lamont  Coleman. This particular biopic is one of those pieces that are needed, especially with all the crazy things that are going on in the world today as well as to fill void on a very important person in hip hop that assisted in paving the way..
